Indeed. One of the points I made in this essay was proven by the WP crossword puzzle this morning, where three of the answers were Cain, Noah, and Eden.

My class was taught in St. Margaret Mary Catholic school (Omaha NE) that every time an individual entered a Catholic church on All Souls' Day one soul would be released from purgatory. The only requirement was to enter a Catholic church - nothing more. The "miracle" wasn't limited to one entry per day. Even at that time (7th or 8th grade) it reminded me of the prayer wheel that some Buddhists used.
